šŸ›’ Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³ Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and pepper.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, hot sauce, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

Heat about 1/2-inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.

  5. 5

Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, scoop the batter into the hot oil. Fry for about 3 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

In a separate pan, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

  7. 7

Add the shrimp and cook until pink and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  8. 8

Split the hushpuppies in half and fill each with a cooked shrimp.

  9. 9

Top with a dollop of remoulade sauce and serve immediately.

  10. 10

Serve the sliders on crispy hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato, and pickles.

šŸ’” Pro Tips

To prevent the hushpuppies from becoming too greasy, do not overfry them. Also, make sure to not overcrowd the skillet.
